Putting On an Art Exhibition in Melbourne is expensive. Here’s How Much I Recently Spent.
Transparency is an interesting thing. The clear and open space provides us with more perspective.
Something else to consider.
Perhaps another world entirely.
I’m not the sort of person who likes to ‘build in public’. I’m much more likely to work away in secrecy and then reveal my creations when they are finished.
But there is something I’d like to shed a bit of light on – which is the astronomical cost of putting on art exhibitions in Melbourne. Because unless you’ve done it, you probably have no idea.
So allow me to pull back the curtain.
Here’s how much I recently spent to put on 2 exhibitions for the Cause + Effect show:
Gallery fees: $7,885
Prints: $3,439
Framing: $2,936.17
Food & Drinks: ~$400
Total: $14,660.17
And so, if you see a flyer for an art exhibition or a friend of yours invites you to one, GO to the exhibition.
Even if it’s raining.
Even if you can’t be bothered.
Because this person has put an extraordinary amount of time, effort and money into creating something that you get to enjoy for free.
Make the effort to show up and they will be grateful for it.
Thank you to everyone who came to my exhibitions. 🖤
Stay Classy ✌🏻
